Connectivity
Environment,
visit
and
assess
Field
Sites,
conduct
a
review
and
document
their
Applications
Software
and
practice,
and
review
their
Intranet
requirements.
The
work
on
the
projects
was
performed
at
the
company
main
location
in
Calgary
and
10
other
remote
field
sites.
The
company
is
a
major
player
engaged
in
oil
and
gas
production
in
Canada
with
head
offices
in
Calgary
and
international
operations.
The
scope
of
the
network,
site
and
applications
review
project
consisted
of
the
following
activities.
- Conduct
a
Network
hardware,
software
and
telecommunications
links
review.

Visit
the
10
remote
locations
and
review
the
network
setup
and
configuration
and
discuss
with
the
users
the
network
and
applications
performance.

Visit
a
sample
of
the
‘doghouses’
and
review
the
applications
performance
(5
-
10
sites)
-
Review
the
applications
performance
as
related
to
the
network,
determine
root
cause
of
any
performance
problems,
and
recommend
changes
to
the
network,
applications
or
business
processes
to
overcome
those
root
causes.

Review
the
software
and
data
distribution
model,
and
cost
out
alternatives
that
would
give
quantifiably
better
performance.

Review
the
network
design
and
propose
enhancements
and
changes.

Review
the
remote
dial
in
access
solution.

cost/performance
of
the
network
and
recommend
any
alternatives
or
changes.

reliability
and
redundancy
of
the
Network

Interview
a
selected
group
of
Calgary
managers
to
get
their
views
on
the
direction
of
IT
applications.

with
findings,
analysis
and
recommendations.

included
the
responses
from
peer
companies
to
a
field
office
survey
conducted
by
Talisman
and
discussions
around
centralization
/
decentralizations,
security
and
IS
best
practices.

also

documentation
project
included
the

centralized
system
component
that
consists
of
the
product
catalogue
data
store,
business
logic
and
an
application
interface
(APILink)
to
Vision
21.
It
also
contains
interfaces
to
support
other
applications
such
as
Express
Activation
or
Corporate
Ordering,
that
need
to
access
this
component
for
eligible
price
plans,
equipment
and
other
functions.
The
product
catalog
is
used
in
conjunction
with
real-time
Vision
21
access,
and
also
has
the
capability
to
operate
in
offline
mode,
in
case
Vision
21
is
not
available
or
Vision
21
does
not
completely
support
the
required
business
eligibility
rules.
The
key
functions
of
the
Product
Catalog
include
the
following
capabilities.
- Provide
the
means
to
further
filter
consumer
and
corporate
pricing
options
and
services
for
eligibility
based
on
business
rules
not
accommodated
in
Vision
21
and
used
manually
by
corporate
sales
and
service
representatives
when
doing
ordering.

Provide
intelligent
and
pro-activate
service
conflict
identification
and
resolution
to
minimize
or
even
eliminate
the
conflicts.
-
Provide
an
authoritative
source
for
price
plans
and
services
for
offline
processing
(offline
ordering)
when
Vision
21
is
not
available,
or
the
existing
V21
functionality
cannot
provide
adequate
eligibility
rules.
-
Using
a
graphic
user
interface,
provide
an
administrative
environment
to
set
up
and
maintain
contents
of
the
product
catalog
and
the
rules
for
price
plans
and
products
for
each
applicable
application.

Provide
synchronization
with
Vision
21
for
saleable
price
plans
and
services.
