NTG developed and engineered a customized turn-key GIS [Geographic Information System] based Asset Management system for a large Middle East wireless provider with over 6 million subscribers.
The scope of the web-enabled project included developing the organizational framework for the new Asset Management unit, a comprehensive inventory of all assets including BTS sites/offices, creation and implementation of GIS/Geo-Database, PDA field application and Oracle [or any other major enterprise database platform] asset management integration. |
|
Features of the system include:
- Navigation to nationally-distributed infrastructure for asset inventory and assessment purposes through PDA-based navigation tool
- Facilitation of field data collection/updating of asset information (i.e., equipment name, manufacturer, serial no.) through PDA-based custom data input application
- Provision of a user-friendly, fully scalable web browser-based interface that can be easily used by technical and non-technical staff
- Common platform for expansion into other departments such as engineering and customer relations
- Highly secure access to GIS tools and associated relational databases across the organization.
|
NTG also completed a thorough and comprehensive review and audit of all life-cycle Asset Management policies and procedures. A series of process gaps were identified as well as the recommended management process changes that were required to close these gaps.
In addition, NTG provided an organizational plan and human resources plan to help the customer implement a modern Asset Management unit which was based on recognized Asset Management standards and practices.

- Responding to area coverage queries
- Identifying and prioritizing known problem areas
- Providing customer service by identifying local offices and retail outlets
- Forecasting growth and targeting capital expenditures
- Wireless network planning and designing
